Arrival

January 24th 2008

Well Baby McGovern has finally arrived - only 11 days late.
Eleanor Mary McGovern arrived today at 6.47pm weighing 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches long, after a 15 and a half hour labour.

She is the most beautiful girl in the world (am only slightly biased) and we are madly in love with her already. Her first visitors were Granny and Grandad Fallas who were waiting patiently outside the delivery room for about 7 hours!! She has received lots of wonderful gifts, cards and lovely messages, so thankyou very much to everyone. She is looking forward to meeting everyone and we are looking forward to showing her off!!

Overdue

20th January 2008

Well no great surprise but bubs is now a week late and seems in no hurry to move. The CTG monitoring shows that she is happy an cosy in there and seems happy to stay put for a while. The doctor has said they will induce me Thursday night if no arrival by then, so at least we know we will meet our baby by the end of the week.

The picture is of me at 41 weeks, definitely the last fat picture on here now!! keep checking in for the birth announcement!

Nearly there!!

11th January 2008

Well we are fast approaching d-day and bubs seems very snug and happy. S/he is now sitting very low which has given me a lovely waddle when i walk - which at the minute is not very far in one go without having a rest stop planned!!
Everything is ready for bubs arrival now and we are just playing the waiting game. We are still hopeful for a due date arrival, but think it might be waiting to have a race with granny and grandad. They arrive on Wednesday after a twelve hour flight - so here is hoping that bubs wins the race in a quicker time, more than happy with that!!
Sorry to those people who put in our sweepstake an early arrival date - you are losing points as each day ticks by - no changing your answers though!!
Oh well hopefully this may be the last blog with a big belly - see picture attached which is me at 39 weeks. Now nobody can say "oh you have a small bump to that picture - surely!!"
Feel free to send pain free labour vibes our way if you have a minute to spare and we will update when there is any news.

Nursery

Well the nursery is finally decorated. Although we have had the furniture for a while, it did not seem very babyish as we were unable to decorate properly as we are renting. However we managed to find some reusable stickers in bumps to babes and promptly set about adding our unique style to the nursery. We have gone for a sea theme and it really made a difference to how the room looks and adds some colour as we had been doing lots of neutral colours as we do not yet know if bubs is a boy or girl. Hope you like it - we were impressed but then with our joint artistic qualities it doesn't take much!!

Christmas

Had a midwife appointment just before Christmas and baby seems nice and comfortable, so we are quite happy that bubs will be a 2008 baby. Which is good as it will be nice to get Christmas and New Year out of the way before babes arrival and it also means that bubs will be full term.

The picture is of bump on a night out in Lan Kwai Fong on Christmas Eve, (37 weeks) baby wriggling lots all day and night, so we think s/he knows that Santa had left some presents under the tree with bubs name on!!

Growing and spending!

Wednesday 14th November 2007

Success at last!! At the weekend we finally managed to make a decision on the nursery furniture and travel system we are buying. On Saturday we managed to order our Quinny Buzz pushchair and car seat, along with the Baby Bjorn sling so bubs will be travelling in style come January!! If you wish to see it head to the Mothercare website - we went for the Charcoal colour (aka black!!!) Delivery will be next Tuesday so we get to practice then!!

Then on Sunday we headed to Bumps to Babes and picked the cot and drawers. We ended up going for the very first one we picked - no surprise there, it is from Mama's and Papa's and is the Savannah range. We also got the Moses Basket and stand, which is M&P again and is the Millie and Boris design - very cute!! These arrive on Friday, so then we can start buying all the things to fill the drawers!!

Very exciting, it took us a while but we finally got there!! So bubs will be travelling and sleeping in style now. And with Hong Kong designer shops s/he will be dressed in style - Baby Ralph Lauren, Baby Gucci - mmm maybe not!!

We also have finished our antenatal classes, so all prepared now!!! We will have the tour of the hospital in 2 weeks which should be fun. Yesterday we went to our cloth nappy workshop, which was interesting and some of the nappies are so unbelievably cute and fluffy!!! The only problem being which ones to pick - more decisions -aaahh!! Think we might mix and match disposables and cloth at the start and see what we think - nothing like sitting on the fence!!

And finally another bump pic to add to the collection. This is at 31 weeks and i think it is fair to say that bubs has had a bit of a growth spurt since we were in the UK. Although everyone still keeps saying how "neat" I am, so lets hope that remains the same for the next 8 weeks!!

Permission to fly!

Friday 12th October

Had my appointment with obs today and have been given a health check which means that i can fly back to the UK on Monday (good job really as the flights were booked!!) Baby checked as well and measures perfectly for dates, heart beat also nice and strong and baby is head down at the minute - although figure this will change quite a bit over the next few weeks, nice to know that s/he knows how to get there though!!

Picture is of me at 26 weeks - growing nicely I think!
