Well as the title suggests we have reached the first milestone of 12 weeks (12+5 actually). We had our scan today and saw bubs again. It is amazing how much s/he has grown in just a few weeks and actually looks like a baby already!!! In the picture you can see babies hands scrunched into little fists - we do not think s/he was happy about being woken up - clearly takes after mummy there then!! The scan checked for possible signs of Down's and along with my age came back low risk - so very pleased about that. All my checks still good and Mike is also rhesus negative which means less nasty needles for me - yippee!!
Still have not got my appetite back and awaiting for the bloomingness and surge of energy that marks the second trimester - where are you??!
Very excited about telling everybody now. Went for dinner with friends at Middle Island and Mike announced our news in typical McGovern fashion - Champagne!!! Feels much more exciting now everyone knows!
Both families are very excited. I tried ringing my mum and could not get through as she was on the phone telling the whole of Yorkshire I think!! As soon as we got home from dinner Mike rang all his sisters to tell them the news - think he might have had a bit to drink beforehand but they coped with his drunken excitement really well!!
So all in all a fab day!!!
